What We Do

Discover How We’re Building a Better Future for All

At Dekalb County Habitat for Humanity, we’re committed to creating a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Learn more about the types of work we do to turn this vision into reality:

Building Affordable Homes: We construct quality housing to preserve and enhance the fabric of Dekalb County communities. By providing affordable homeownership opportunities, we empower families to achieve stability and security for a brighter future.

Home Repairs: We believe in keeping homeowners safe and healthy in their homes. Through our home repair programs, we address critical repair needs, ensuring that families can continue to thrive in their homes for years to come.

Deconstruction: Our deconstruction services offer a sustainable solution to remove kitchen cabinets, appliances, bathroom fixtures, and doors from spaces before remodels or renovations. By salvaging materials, we reduce waste and promote environmental stewardship.

Neighborhood Revitalization: We work at the grassroots level to bring strength, stability, and self-reliance to entire communities. Our Neighborhood Revitalization programs aim to not only help individuals thrive but also uplift entire neighborhoods, fostering vibrant and resilient communities across Dekalb County.

With your support, we’re transforming lives and communities one home at a time. Join us in our mission to build a better future for all. Explore how you can get involved and make a meaningful difference today. Together, we can create lasting impact and ensure that everyone has a place to call home.

Home Repairs

Keep homeowners safe and healthy in their homes.

ATLANTA, GEORGIA, USA (03/06/2020) – Volunteers from Lowe’s and Assurant come together to help paint Janice Abrams’ home during International Women Build Week 2020.
Janice Abrams built her Reynoldstown home with Atlanta Habitat over 25 years ago. She and her husband purchased and built the home in 1994 but unfortunately he passed away 4 years later. The house has been a sanctuary for the family through tough times like the loss of their patriarch. Ms. Abrams, who works for a nearby Dry Cleaner, has two sons who grew up in the home. Her oldest son Octavius is now 40 and Obrian is 29. Obrian currently lives in the home with his mother. His 4 year old daughter, one of Ms. Abrams' 3 grandchildren, also lives with them part time. Janice, an Atlanta native, works nearby for a Dry Cleaner. She and her family love their home and the vast improvements they have seen in the neighborhood over the years. She is so grateful for the continued support of Atlanta Habitat and to Lowe's and Assurant who are helping her maintain her home and thrive as a homeowner.
