Need Affordable Housing

Our Case for Support: Creating a World Where Everyone Thrives.

Did you know?

Habitat for Humanity was established in 1976 in Americus, Georgia.

President and Mrs. Carter began volunteering with Habitat in 1984.

We believe in empowering families through partnership – Habitat homeowners help build their homes and pay an affordable mortgage or loan.

In Fiscal Year 2018, DuPage Habitat for Humanity ReStores diverted nearly 700 tons of materials from local landfills.

Habitat addresses one of today’s most pressing social issues: housing insecurity.

When families spend disproportionately on housing, they’re forced to sacrifice basic needs like food and healthcare.

Our Work Today:

New Construction: We design and build homes tailored to local needs, using locally sourced materials.
Home Repair: Our Home Repair Program ensures existing homes remain safe and livable for years to come.
Neighborhood Revitalization: Collaborating with residents and partners, we enhance community well-being in areas like the Greenbrook Tanglewood Community.

Why it Matters:

Better housing means stronger childhood development and financial flexibility for families.
Children perform better in school, families enjoy improved health, and stability fosters long-term investment.
Families become better equipped to seize new opportunities.

Economic Impact:

Our homeowners collectively contribute $300,000 in property taxes annually.
In Fiscal Year 2018, we tithed $42,000 to Habitat partners in the Dominican Republic.

Positive Community Impact:

We participated in 48 Neighborhood Revitalization projects in DuPage County in Fiscal Year 2018.
Our Tanglewood Greenbrook Neighborhood Revitalization program received the Vision Award from Urban Land Institute Chicago in 2018.

Built on Faith:

Habitat’s roots trace back to Koinonia Farm in Americus, Georgia, founded by Clarence Jordan.
While personal faith isn’t required for volunteers, our mission is rooted in serving others.
